COOCHBEHAR RAJ BARI

IThis palce in Cooch Behar was designed originally by Koch King Maharaja Nripendra Narayan. This grand building is double storied in structure and acquires around 51309 sq.ft. As you walk inside this brilliant masterpiece, you will get to see numerous halls and rooms. The curved verandas in the ground floor creates a setting of a little bit of mystery. You will be able to reach the Durbar Hall via the extended veranda, which has a metal dome and is covered with a cylindrical louver that primarily depicts the Italian Renaissance style of construction

MADON MOHAN BARI

 

Ifter ascending the throne in 1887, Maharaja Nripendra Narayan built the present palace at Cooch Behar. For enhancing the beauty of the locality surrounding the palace (influenced by Maharani Sunity Devi partially converted to Brahma religion) changing the temple's position was thought of. On 8th July, 1889 Maharaja Nripendra Narayan laid the foundation stone of the temple amidst a joyful ceremony. Rajmata Nishimoyee Devi inaugurated the Madan Mohan temple on 21st March, 1890. The deities were brought to the temple with splendor followed by a grand procession and memorable celebrations. Simultaneously the Anandamoyee Dharmashala was inaugurated by Maharaja Nripendra Narayan to the east of the temple premise.

COOCHBEHAR MEDICAL COLLAGE

The department has  its academic and administrative buildings on a plot of 25 acres at Vivekananda Street of the town close to the Cooch Behar Panchanan Burma University. On the other hand, it has selected an youth hostel in the town as a temporary building to run the administrative wing and hold classes.

For practicals, the department is readying the infrastructure at Maharaja Jitendra Narayan (MJN) Hospital in the town.

The college is situated in a prime location in the Cooch Behar District. The college, being well connected from any part of the Cooch Behar city, enables the student's easy access. The college is approved by AICTE and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (Formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology) – WBUT and Government of India and the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal. The Institute is located at its own sprawling campus of 20 acres and the Institute has state-of-the-art laboratories, experienced faculties, and extensive computer facilities coupled with a high-tech teaching learning tools. Cooch Behar Government Engineering College (CGEC) is also committed making significant contributions in local developmental projects and enriching the quality of life for the people around it.

DISTRICT LIBRARY

 

  The North Bengal State Library is a pride of Cooch Behar. There are so many valuable manuscripts and classic manuscripts (Punthis) written on hand-made papers and Palm leaves. There are great number of rare books, century old Journals, Indian and foreign rare documents, Gazettes, Report etc. This treasure does not only speak about the cultural heritage of Cooch Behar, but also of the country in general. This library has already traversed 146 years of its long journey (with respect to year 2015).
